INSTITUTE OF REPRODUCTIVE GRIEF CARE ANNOUNCED BY LIFE PERSPECTIVES

The Institute of Reproductive Grief Care Is Founded to Facilitate the Widespread Adoption of a Gold Standard of Care for those Impacted by Pregnancy and Reproductive Loss

SAN DIEGO (February 15, 2022)Life Perspectives®, the global leader in education, research, expertise and support after reproductive loss including miscarriage and abortion, without religious or political affiliation, today announced the formation of the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care.

“Two million people are impacted by pregnancy and reproductive loss in the U.S. every year,” said Dr. Michaelene Fredenburg, President and CEO of the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care and Life Perspectives. “Culturally, we offer little support for them as they process their losses, and little education and support for staff within our healthcare system. The Institute of Reproductive Grief Care is here to change this.”

Located in San Diego, the national headquarters of Life Perspectives, the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care was built through a multi-year matching grant awarded to Life Perspectives specifically to create this facility. The new facility includes:

  • A counseling center
  • A research library
  • Teaching rooms
  • A recording studio
  • A 300-seat auditorium with remote capabilities
  • Visiting scholars’ space
  • Office space for staff

“After 15 years of helping those impacted by pregnancy and reproductive loss, we are thrilled to create this Institute,” added Fredenburg. “The Institute of Reproductive Grief Care will accelerate the widespread adoption of a reproductive grief standard of care, bringing comfort and hope to millions who are suffering, often alone and in silence.”

The Institute of Reproductive Grief Care will formally open on March 17th, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that launches two days of events, including tours, a memorial unveiling, an educational showcase and Life Perspectives’ “Research Reveals: Reunion” event, where reproductive loss experts offer insights into their latest research.

“The Institute of Reproductive Grief Care is groundbreaking,” added Fredenburg. “As an active hub for education, research, and healing of grief after reproductive loss, we are here to close research and practice gaps and to ease the pain of those struggling with pregnancy and reproductive loss.”
